About Scioto County Court Docket

Scioto County court records are maintained by several courts and clerk offices. This private reference resource identifies the official channels for Common Pleas, Portsmouth Municipal, Probate, and Juvenile records so a search can begin with the court that holds the matter.

Why We Built This Site

Ohio court records are not held in one universal county database. The Scioto County Clerk of Courts Legal Division maintains Common Pleas civil, criminal, domestic-relations, lien, judgment-lien, Court of Appeals, and related dockets. Portsmouth Municipal Court maintains its own traffic, misdemeanor, and qualifying civil records through CaseLook. Probate and Juvenile have separate clerk channels, and their access rules differ. The starting task is therefore to identify the court first, then use the right clerk or official online route.

CourtView eAccess is the clerk-linked entry point for Common Pleas records, while CaseLook is the public municipal path. Ohio does not provide one statewide case search for every county trial docket. The Supreme Court of Ohio Public Docket is only for Supreme Court cases. Those distinctions matter when a search does not return the record expected.

What You Will Find Here

The material is organized around the local record routes and the practical questions that follow a citation, notice, case number, or request for a court document.

  • Docket guides: how criminal dockets and civil dockets are located and read in Scioto County.
  • Dates and settings: how to use the court calendar information and confirm a hearing with the custodian.
  • Case channels: how a case search differs between CourtView, CaseLook, and the appropriate clerk counter.
  • Record requests: how court records and certified copies are requested from the clerk that keeps them.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately operated reference resource, not a Scioto County court, clerk, or state agency. It cannot retrieve an official docket, revise a court setting, alter or seal a case, issue a certified copy, or provide legal advice. It also cannot promise that every published phone number, fee, or date remains current.

  • Only the custodian may provide an official docket sheet or case file.
  • Only the court may set, change, or confirm a hearing.
  • Only the court and clerk can act on sealing, amendment, or filing requests.
  • Only the clerk or issuing court can issue a certified copy.
  • Legal advice must come from a qualified attorney.

For a record that needs official status, use the Clerk or court that maintains the original file rather than a web result or a reference summary.

Search Partners

Some pages include search boxes run by third-party providers. Those providers set their own charges, terms, and result practices. A paid signup through one of those services may generate a referral fee that supports the resource, but neither the provider nor this site controls an official court record. Check the provider's terms before using its service.
