Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Information entered into a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that runs that tool. The provider processes the request and returns any result under its own practices. We do not store or log search terms entered through the tool on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If someone sends an email, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may receive routine technical details connected with the visit.
- IP address assigned to the device
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Referring site, if any
- Time of each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that may help measure aggregate use, such as page visits and navigation patterns. Browser settings can block cookies, though some site functions may then work differently. Analytics providers process their data under their own policies.
What We Do With This Data
Technical and service information may be used to operate and improve the resource.
- Maintain site availability and performance
- Send a search request to the selected partner service
- Understand aggregate use of the pages
- Diagnose and address technical problems
- Serve advertising that may be relevant to visitors
No Court-Record Data on File
This private resource does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of Scioto County court dockets or personal case records. It describes official channels such as the Scioto County Clerk of Courts Legal Division, CourtView, and Portsmouth Municipal Court CaseLook. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and it does not assemble visitor information into consumer reports or profiles about third parties.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes are supplied by outside providers. Data entered into a partner's tool is handled under that provider's privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing rules. Review the partner's policy before submitting a search because we do not control its data practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to clerk pages, Ohio court portals, other public resources, and third-party search services. Once a visitor leaves this resource, the other site's privacy policy applies. Read that policy before sharing personal information.
Advertising partners may measure activity across sites for their own ad-delivery purposes. That activity occurs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Information may be processed by parties that support the services described above.
- Search partners that receive submitted queries
- Analytics providers used for traffic and performance measurement
- Ad networks that place advertising on pages
- Government bodies or law enforcement when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use ordinary security measures intended to protect information we receive. Internet transmission and storage cannot be guaranteed risk-free, so no security practice can promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a minor's information was sent to us, contact us so it can be addressed.
Your Data Rights
This policy does not replace the rules for obtaining a court record. The Ohio Public Records Act, ORC 149.43, supplies the general public-office records framework. Court-case access and restrictions are governed by the current Ohio Rules of Superintendence, Section 11. Depending on applicable law, a visitor may ask for a copy of data held about that visitor, seek correction of inaccurate data, request deletion, or opt out of certain processing.
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. A revised version takes effect when posted here with an updated effective date.
Effective date: August 31, 2026
